About the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcats
The 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was meant to be a limited edition with just 2,000 Durango SRT Hellcats to be made. But demand exceeded (limited) supply and in just a quarter, all the limited Hellcats made (2,000 of them) were sold out in dealerships worldwide.
What makes the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat a Beast?
This midsize SUV is a hauler with a 6.2L V8 engine under its hood. Its V8 engine produces 710 horsepower and pulls 645 lb-ft of torque; as an All-Wheel Drive mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, when it is in motion, the power it generates from its engine gets to all the wheels. As a hauler, it hauls/tows a significant amount of cargo: 8,700lbs; this haulage/tow capacity is higher than what other midsize SUVs are capable of giving to the owner of the car.
What is Dodge Doing about this Excess Demand?
On one hand, Dodge could call it a day and move on to other productions but when your customers speak, you should listen; on the other hand, Dodge cannot just pop these cars out of the production line like it would have done if it had not opted for a limited production style for this Dodge model. These two reasons are exactly why Dodge cannot just make these cars from the production line real quick:
- Emission regulations which are model year specific would be a production obstacle once 2021 runs out.
- The Durango SRT Hellcat has a dedicated production line. And when the production for the limited 2021 model (2,000 units) was done with, the production line was adapted and set up for the production of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Despite these obstacles facing a re-production of this beast, Dodge is giving it a go for those customers who registered interest before the supply ran out. So if you queued up for one in the initial sale period, you are welcome to get yours at our dealership once Dodge rolls out more units.
